Fishing at Icy Bay Lodge is without a doubt, indescribable.

Icy Bay Lodge specializes in fly fishing for Silver Salmon on small, remote streams, saltwater flats, and backwater marshes. We also catch Pink Salmon, Dolly Varden, and the occasional Cutthroat and Steelhead Trout in these waters. Icy Bay Lodge has EXCLUSIVE fishing access to the waters in Icy Bay, and it's rare to have another group of anglers within 50 miles.

There are occassions where we use boats to transport guests from one location to another, but all of our fishing is done while wading. We focus most of our efforts on three unique river systems in our area that produce some of the hottest, most aggressive Silvers you will ever have the opportunity to catch. ALL of our fishing locations are within a mile of the salt, and we can fish right in front of the lodge everyday for chrome bright fish. The majority of our fish are caught on our special streamers, but we have also perfected the technique of catching Coho on dry flies. Our guides will provide you with flies and the proper leader material, but we recommend the following items be brought up in addition to your regular clothing.

Fly Fishing Gear Checklist:

7-9 wt Fly Rod

Matching Fly Reel with at least 150 yards of backing, and floating line

A comfortable pair of waders and rubber soled wading boots

Wading Jacket

Polarized Sunglasses

If you have questions about any of the gear you should bring, don't hesitate to call us with questions. We want to make sure you are outfitted properly prior to your arrival. Having the right gear is an essential part of a fun and memorable trip.

During the Summer months we focus on Halibut and feeder King Salmon, but we also catch Ling Cod, and Rockfish; all within 25 miles of the lodge. We rarely fish in water deeper than 70 feet. Our remote location allows us to get to our best areas for Halibut in less than an hour. We provide all gear necessary to go deep sea fishing.

Our staff will clean, vaccuum seal, and freeze up to 50 lbs of fish per person each week. We package your fish in wet lock boxes for safe transportation back home.

If you want to experience a trip to Alaska unlike any other, in a remote wilderness setting, with all the amenities, contact us today.
